by Jacques (le Romain) Hotteterre, published in 1719. This little book of composed preludes gives models of moving through the different keys and cadences to create improvised lines before playing a suite (or sonate).
You will need to know how to play in French violin clef (the “g” is one line down from it’s place from the modern treble clef. So, what looks like an “e” is a “g”. It’s almost like reading bass clef up an octave.
